Mr. Husnain Arshad, born in 1985, is a seasoned Advocate of the High Court with extensive expertise in commercial, corporate, and regulatory law. With over 15 years of professional experience, he specializes in power sector and corporate sector laws, providing comprehensive advisory services, regulatory guidance, and effective dispute resolution. After gaining extensive experience as a practicing lawyer at Raja Mohammed Akram & Co. (RMA & Co.) for over 6 years, Mr. Husnain served as Joint Director/Special Public Prosecutor at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), as Assistant Legal Advisor at NEPRA, as Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at NTDC, as Acting Chief Law Officer at NTDC, and as Head of the Legal Department at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power (Pvt.) Limited as well as Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power (Pvt.) Limited.

 

At RMA & Co., Mr. Husnain worked under the guidance of Mr. Salman Akram Raja, a foremost constitutional to gain hands-on experience in constitutional, corporate, commercial, and banking disputes, advising national and multinational entities on transactions and litigation strategies.

 

In his role at the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Mr. Husnain assisted in drafting rules, regulations, and project documents critical to Pakistan’s evolving energy market. He provided legal services on tariff determination for key stakeholders, including IPPs, K-Electric, and renewable energy projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and representing the Authority in legal proceedings before various courts.

 

At the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Mr. Husnain served as Joint Director/Special Public Prosecutor of advisory and litigation wings. He provided regulatory advice, vetted enforcement actions, supervised litigation portfolios, and represented SECP before superior courts, to contribute in achieving over 95% reliance on in-house legal teams.

 

As Head of the Legal Department at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power (Pvt.) Limited (QASP) and Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power (Pvt.) Limited (QATPL), Mr. Husnain demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. He managed litigation and arbitration, advised boards and executives on legal matters, and contributed to tariff and licensing submissions to NEPRA. His involvement extended to procurement compliance and developing bidding documents under relevant procurement laws.

 

While serving the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) as Manager (Corporate and Regulatory Affairs) and Acting Chief Law Officer, headed the corporate governance, regulatory matters, and high-stakes litigation. He remained instrumental in negotiating and vetting agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant power sector and public sector laws, and safeguarding NTDC’s legal and regulatory interests.

 

Due to his versatile experience, Mr. Husnain has excelled in both corporate law consultancy and dispute resolution across diverse areas, including corporate and commercial disputes, power sector, constitutional, banking, service, media, education, and related disputes.

 

Mr. Husnain is an Advocate of the High Court and holds an LL.B degree awarded by the University of the Punjab (2009) through Quaid-e-Azam Law College, and an LL.M degree in Commercial Law from BPP University, London, UK (2013).
